Livable Luxury

This home’s transitional design balances traditional details with contemporary style, both inside and out. The challenging lot size made efficient space planning a priority, while still striving to maximize natural light, frame key views, and provide a nice flow through open, but defined living spaces.

Exterior cladding selections were strategically incorporated into the design to not only find the right balance of contrast and texture, but also to maximize the construction budget. Brick is used minimally but prominently, followed by stucco, with lap siding along the rear and at accent locations. Dark trim and dark lap siding provide dramatic accents at windows, the 3-seasons room, and bay window. All material transitions are intentional— at inside corners— which creates a more authentic, finished, and luxury appearance.

Initial design influences came from the owner’s inspiration imagery, which we then built upon collaboratively. With precedent imagery ranging from high-contrast contemporary new builds to older classic and even Tudor exteriors, we highlighted materials, details, rooflines, and color palettes that were most appealing.

As the design developed, many of these architectural features, such as curved rooflines, bays, and trim helped inform the overall design layout and massing.
